2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Home Up

The third Ambassador Program car that I picked up this year was the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. This isn't a sexy choice of a car, but as it is something that both Tara & I have considered as a drive to work type vehicle, yet one that will seat five of us comfortably, it was a practical choice. Like the LaCrosse, the color of the Equinox (Steel Green Metallic) isn't oen that I would choose for my personal vehicle. This car came fairly loaded, although it lacked a navigation system (which is fine, because I doubt I would spring the extra $800 for one anyway. It did have heated front seats, a rear backup camera and alert system, lane departure and collision detection warning systems, tilt down side mirrors (something we had on our Trailblazer many moons ago and loved), and much, much more. This vehicle was equipped with a 6-cylinder engine, so gas mileage undoubtedly suffered over what the 4-cylinder would have offered, but it was quite peppy with the 6-speed transmission behind it. It was also an AWD vehicle, something that I wouldn't do. I priced a similar vehicle out on Chevrolet's website, and it seems as though this one would run a little less than $35,000. Not great, but considering the features not bad either. And compared to the other cars I have had in the past, this seems downright affordable!

2012 Chevrolet Equinox LTZ

Here is the Chevrolet Equinox LTZ as seen from the front three-quarter view.

A look straight on at the Equinox.

A side view of the Equinox.

And the rear three-quarter view.

Another look at the front, this time with the headlights and fog lights on.

A look at the center stack, with the backup camera on.

The view from the driver's seat.

A look at the driver and front passenger seating area...

...and the rear seat passenger area. The back seat slides back and forth 5-8" or so to provide a nice balance between leg room and cargo space.

Speaking of cargo space, a look inside the powered rear hatch at the "trunk".
