2012 GMC Acadia Denali

Home Up

Of all the cars that Tara & I have been able to borrow through the Ambassador Program, this is the one that we could most easily envision as our new family vehicle (although the Cadillac Escalade ESV would be our first choice if we hit the lottery!). Although we were not impressed with the gas mileage overall, some of it can be contributed to the city driving that we did - it is rated 16 city/24 highway - and the fact that the roads weren't exactly clear for the majority of our driving. We were averaging about 15.6 MPG during our weekend trip, but I had that up to 16 MPG on the way back to work to drop it off, and that was after a couple hundred miles were on the trip meter already. The kids found the Acadia to have plenty of room, and they liked the dual sunroof and the DVD entertainment system. Tara and I liked pretty much everything about it, starting with how nicely it drove in comparison to our van. The backup camera in the navigation screen was nice, although I couldn't find an option to turn on the guidelines like the Cadillac SRX had. The power liftgate and the remote start are two more features that we could easily get used to!

The Denali version comes with a different grill and different painted fascias all the way around, among other things that I didn't thoroughly research (I know... that is unlike me, but in this day and age time is of the essence for me). This particular version was AWD, which I probably wouldn't order if I was to buy one for myself.

The front of the Acadia Denali features a different grill and lower fascia when compared to the usual Acadia.

The kids liked the DVD screen and the sunroof in the middle row of seating.

The back seat was roomy enough for Tyler, although he thought the seats were too low.

The only drawback to the Acadia Denali that we experienced was the fuel economy. This shows 15.6 MPG, but the mileage was up to 16 before the vehicle was turned back in.
