Canton Cup, Game 3 was another early game, this one
starting again at 7:00am on Sunday, May 27th. The girls needed a win today to
keep their shot at a Cup championship alive, and they did not disappoint.
Although they got off to a slow start, it didn't take long for them to get
rolling. They cruised through an easy first half, leading 6-0 at halftime,
including a goal by Samantha. Things slowed down after halftime, as the girls
began playing in positions that were outside of their norm - offensive players
on defense, defensive players on offense, etc. This limited the scoring in the
second half to a single goal, as the La Forza girls shut out the host Celtic by
a 7-0 score, making them 2-1 in the tournament. Although they probably would
have won the other division based on their scores and record, it wasn't enough
in their division. The SCOR team that beat them yesterday won their game today
as well, making them 3-0, meaning they represent the division in the finals.
Overall, not a bad tournament. Although we were
disappointed to see the girls not play in the championship game they played
hard, worked well together, and had fun. There are good things on the horizon
for this team! Now to take care of business in their final three league games...

Sam moved back to offense towards the end of the game, and she
