If I have to be 100%, I was worried that Jayden and her
Mega Coney Island teammates would play all season long without getting a win.
Part of the thought behind that was that this was a team made up entirely of
girls. Another part of that was that several of them had never played baseball
before in their lives. Yet another part of that came from the drubbing that the
girls took in their first game, losing 14-2. Today the girls went on to the
field and proved to me that they had exactly what it takes to be competitive and
win a few games this season. The girls hit the ball well today on offense, and
they were also strong defensively. Jayden struggled at the plate tonight,
striking out in all three of her at-bats, but she made up for it by playing hard
in the field, even contributing in an out by throwing the ball to the second
baseman while in right field. In all she spent two innings in right, and two at
first base. In fact, the girls played so well in the field that they
were able to keep the opposition of the scoreboard, all while managing to plate
7 runs themselves! Way to go girls!
