The Michigan Impact girls kicked off their indoor season
tonight at the Evolution Sportsplex against the RSC Lightning. The two teams
started out slow, as they traded opportunities while getting a feel for how the
other played. It was the Impact girls who struck first, finding the back of the
net on a nice pass to grab the lead. Although they had a couple of other
good looks, that goal would hold up to halftime. The second half was all RSC,
however, as they really began to show their superior footwork. They found the
back of the net on a long shot over the Impact goalie (who wasn't the usual
keeper). Later in the half they repeated their efforts, with another long shot
finding its way into the goal, giving them a 2-1 lead. The Impact girls gave it
their all to even things up as the clock wound down, but they weren't able to do
so before the final whistle blew.
