Drew and his Holly Bronchos teammates finally got a chance to
kick off their fall baseball season this afternoon, after missing
the opening weekend when their opponent backed out of the league.
Things were looking good early for the Bronchos, as they scored
three early runs against the Foutch's team, their opponent in both
games of today's double-header. Some quality pitching and defense
shut down the opposition when it was their turn to bat, and Holly
held a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
The second inning was another positive one for the Holly team, as
they expanded their lead to 4-0 thanks to a run scored by Drew,
after he drew a walk in his first at-bat of the game. A stolen base
got him to second base, and a hit by a teammate moved him over to
third while loading the bases. He came in to score on a bases loaded
walk. Unfortunately that was it for Holly, and the rest of the game
was all Foutch's. They scored two runs in the second inning to
narrow the game to 4-2 before shutting Holly down in the third and
fourth innings. Foutch's scored three runs in each inning, grabbing
the lead and adding to it. When the game reached it's time limit,
Holly had suffered an 8-4 defeat in the opening game of the Greater
Flint Baseball League Fall Season. |
