After suffering a big loss in the opening game of the tournament
last night, Drew and his Novi FireCats teammates returned to the ice
again early this morning for game two. Either last night's game left
a sour taste in their mouth, or this team plays better in the
morning, because this looked like a totally different team. The
FireCats got on the scoreboard first, taking an early lead for the
first time in the tournament. The Saints team answered with a goal
of the own a short time late, drawing the game to a tie. The rest of
the period was all FireCats, as they score three unanswered goals to
take a 4-1 lead into the first intermission.
Scoring slowed a bit in the second period, but it was in the
FireCats favor, as they added two additional goals to take a 6-1
lead, which they were able to hold heading in to the final period.
The FireCats capped things off with a big third period, tacking
four goals on to their already substantial lead. When the final
buzzer sounded the score was 10-1 in favor of the FireCats, evening
their tournament record at 1-1 heading into their final scheduled
game later tonight. |
