Game 4

Drew and his Novi FireCats teammates arrived at the rink early today to face off against the Ice Kings Hockey team, a group of selected players from Canada. The two teams were evenly matched throughout the first period, as they each had some scoring chances, but they also got some stellar defensive play to keep the game scoreless headed into the second. The Ice Kings got on the board first, scoring a power play goal with 9 minutes to go, grabbing the lead from the FireCats. The Ice Kings tacked on another goal just three minutes later, and held on to the 2-0 lead going into the third period. The FireCats didn't give up, finally getting on the board midway through the final period to make it a one goal game. The game was going down to the wire, as the two teams kept going back and forth. The next goal came with less than two minutes remaining, and it gave the Ice Kings a two goal lead once again. The FireCats kept firing away, and scored once more with under a minute remaining. They pulled the goaltender to gain an extra attacker, but it wasn't enough as they came up a goal short of tying things up.

On the bright side, the team won the tournament tie-breaker and moved on to the championship game later this afternoon against this same Ice Kings Hockey team. Go FireCats!
