| Samantha and her Bronchos teammates travelled to Swartz Creek to
take on the Dragons in game number five of the season. This was a
cold and snowy day, and the action in the game reflected the poor
conditions. The entire first half was played with the teams marching
up and down the field, without many shots on goal. It appeared as
though the game was destined to head into halftime tied at 0-0, but
a fluke goal by Swartz Creek with under a minute remaining ended
that possibility. With little time remaining, Holly was unable to
answer, and would trail 1-0 going into the break. The second half
was another slow one, though Holly pressured more on the offensive
end of the field. They finally broke through 13 minutes into the
game, knotting the score at a goal apiece. The action slowed after
that, though the Bronchos kept attacking. With just under four
minutes remaining, the Dragons scored to regain the lead. Once
again, the Bronchos kept going, and eventually drew a penalty shot
with just seconds remaining thanks to a yellow card on the Dragons
keeper. While I would have preferred Sam take the shot, she talked
her teammate into taking it (the one who drew the penalty), and she
would go on to have her shot blocked, which ended the chances of a
draw. The Bronchos would fall by a 2-1 score. |
