Tonight's game against the Charlotte Fighting Tarpons saw
Samantha and her Venice Indians teammates playing in a torrential
downpour. Thankfully the girls didn't let the weather get to them,
as they were able to control the game, particularly after the first
water break. The girls got off to a fast start today, scoring
goals on the first two shots of the game to grab an early 2-0 lead.
The Tarpons weren't deterred, however, they would answer back
shortly after to close the margin to 2-1. Venice wasn't done
attacking though, as they would score goals on their next two shots,
including an assist for Sam on the final goal before the water
break. The shots on goal at this point actually favored Charlotte by
a 5-4 margin, but it was the Indians on top by a 4-1 score. The
Indians would dominate the action coming out of the first break,
even as the scoring slowed a bit. Sam would help set up her teams
only goal before halftime, as they pushed their lead to 5-1.
After giving up a shot to Charlotte to open the second half the
Indians would once again control the action. Three quick goals on
back to back to back shots blew the game wide open, making it a 8-1
game. Sam would earn the assist on the 8th shot, and she would make
the pass that led to a Venice penalty kick, which they would convert
to push the score to 9-1, invoking the mercy rule and ending the
game early. Once again, great job by all the girls on the team in
contributing. |
