Drew and his Novi FireCats teammates travelled to Chelsea on a
cold, snowy night to take on the Chelsea Chiefs in a scrimmage. Drew
came straight from his school basketball tryouts, arriving just
moments before the team left the locker room. The game got off to
a bit of a slow start for the FireCats, as they found themselves
being outskated by the Chiefs at the start of the contest. It took a
Chelsea goal before the Novi team finally started to settle in and
find some success controlling the puck. Unfortunately a second
Chelsea goal dug a deep hole for Novi to climb out of. For a while
it looked like they might be able to, when they finally got on the
scoreboard with a nifty backhanded shot that snuck past the Chiefs
goalie, but that would be it in the period for the FireCats. Chelsea
would tack on a third goal with just over a minute remaining in the
period.
The two teams would play a very even middle period, as each team
traded some quality scoring chances. Neither team was able to sneak
one past the goalie, though, and they would end the second the way
it started, with Chelsea up 3-1.
The final 15 minutes weren't kind to the FireCats. The Chelsea
team found their touch, and they would go on to add four goals on to
their total. Most of the goals were scored by the teams best player.
If he wasn't in this game, the two teams would have been a much
better match. As it stands, the scrimmage would end with the
FireCats on the wrong side of a 7-1 score. |
