This contest marked game two of the tournament (and the day) for
Drew and his Jr. Everblades teammates, facing off against the second
team from North Carolina today. This time it was the Charlotte Rush
Elite team, and they would be the first team to get on the board,
midway through the first period. The Everblades struggled to
generate offense, but they didn't give up, and would fight back to
tie the game with just 1:33 remaining in the period, which would end
at one goal apiece. Unfortunately the second period wasn't a kind
one for the Everblades, as the shots on goal and time of possession
would lead to the Rush team scoring three times to grab a 4-1 lead.
Despite trailing, the Everblades didn't give up. They would score
on a breakaway early in the period, narrowing the gap to 4-2. The
Rush team would answer right back though, regaining their three goal
lead, before adding on another goal to widen the gap to 6-2. Despite
the large deficit, the Everblades kept fighting. They would score
once again, this time on a wrister from the blue line off of Drew's
stick, making it a 6-3 game. Unfortunately, that was it for both
teams, as the Everblades would suffer their second defeat of the
tournament. |
