Game 3

Drew and his Jr. Everblades teammates got blessed with an early morning game today, with the opening puck drop coming at 8:15am. The team didn't seem awake when the game started, and they picked up an early hooking penalty just a couple minutes in. Thankfully they were able to kill that off, and slightly past the 6 minute mark they finally got on the scoreboard with a wrist shot, taking a 1-0 lead. That would be the only scoring of the period.

The Everblades took a couple more penalties in the second period, and the second one wound up costing them, as the Mission AZ team netted the tying goal at the 8:43 mark on the clock. Early in the season this may have seriously harmed the Everblades attitude, but today they fought back and had an answer, scoring their second goal of the game just over a minute after giving one up, retaking the lead by a 2-1 score. That would be it for the action in the second.

The third period was dominated by the Everblades, as they outshot the Mission team by a 11-3 margin, but they didn't find the back of the net until there was just over two minutes remaining, thanks to a nice pass from Drew, who was behind the net with the puck, allowing the Everblades to grab a 3-1 lead. Shortly after that the Mission team pulled their goalie for an extra man advantage, and they paid off for them, but thankfully for the Jr. Everblades it was too late to make a difference, as the Mission players barely tipped one through the pads of the Everblades goalie as time expired. Over the course of the game Drew made passes that could have easily led to 3 or 4 more goals, but the Mission goaltender was up to the task today, despite the three goals that he allowed. When the final buzzer sounded it was the Everblades skating off the ice with a 3-2 victory.
