Drew and his Venice Chargers teammates wrapped up their season
on his 14th birthday, and he couldn't be happier to see it come to
an end. Poor shooting would cause this game to be far closer than it
should have been, as the Chargers should have cruised to a birthday
victory tonight in a contest that wound up going into overtime to
reach it's conclusion. As I previously mentioned, the Chargers
couldn't buy a bucket tonight. In fact, they would be held scoreless
for the first time this season over the first quarter, but somehow
miraculously only trailed by three points! They found a bit of their
shooting touch in the second period, as they would somehow come away
with a four point lead, outscoring the Pine View squad by a 15-8
margin. Drew did his part this quarter, grabbing four solid
offensive rebounds and coming up with a steal that led to points
during his three and half minutes of action.
The third quarter was a back and forth affair, as the two teams
traded buckets for the most part. In the end, the Chargers still
held the lead, but it had been narrowed down to three points.
Drew got to see a fair amount of court time in the fourth quarter
as well, and took advantage of his time by grabbing two defensive
rebounds and scoring two points. It looked as though the Chargers
might squeak out a victory, but a late three from the Pine View
squad knotted the game up at 33 all.
Overtime was a low scoring affair, with the Chargers only scoring
three points. That wouldn't be enough, as the Pine View team squad
would score five to secure the victory. |
