I wasn't able to attend today's match up between Drew's Riverview Ice Sharks team and the Freedom-Palm Harbor squad, which is unfortunate for me as it turned out to be quite a game for the Sharks!

The Ice Sharks got off to a fast start today, getting on the scoreboard just 30 seconds into the action with the game's opening goal. They answered with a second goal less than 90 seconds later, opening up an early 2-0 lead. Drew would get in on the scoring with just under eight minutes to go in the period, as he widened the Ice Sharks lead to 3 goals. The Ice Sharks would make it a 4-0 lead with just over three minutes remaining in the opening period, which would be the scoring heading into the intermission.

The Ice Sharks continued to pour it on in the second period, with two more quick goals. This time it didn't take 30 seconds before the Sharks scored, it was only 12! The second goal of the period was less than 60 seconds after the first, making it a 6-0 game with just over fourteen minutes of game time elapsed. Drew would net his second goal of the game just three minutes later, scoring with nine minutes remaining in the period. The Ice Sharks would make it an 8-0 lead just 33 seconds later. At this point the game slowed down a bit - at least when it comes to scoring. It would take seven and a half minutes before another shot would find the back of the net, and this time it came off of a Freedom-Palm Harbor stick with just a minute remaining in the period. The 8-1 margin would hold until the second intermission.

Freedom-Palm Harbor would open the scoring in the third period, scoring at the 1:40 mark to make it an 8-2 game. Midway through the period the Ice Sharks would score once again, as Drew assisted on his team's ninth goal of the game. Almost four minutes after the Riverview team got their final goal of the game the Freedom-Palm Harbor team scored their final goal, making the final score 9-3. 12 goals, and all of them at even strength - despite 7 power play opportunities throughout the game! Either way, way to go Ice Sharks!
