Jayden returned to the soccer pitch today with the Florida Hawks
U16 team, as they traveled to Dover to take on the West Florida
Flames United team. Jay got the start on defense for the Hawks, and
the two sides traded scoring opportunities over the course of the
first few minutes of the game. The Hawks started to take control a
bit on offense a little before the first water break, and continued
to carry play after the break. When the halftime whistle blew, they
had outshot the Flames by a 7-3 margin, but the score remained tied
at zero all. The Hawks continued to control the ball to start the
first half, and would finally break through early on to grab a 1-0
lead. They got the goal on a shot from the center of the box, with
the ball deflecting in off of a defender. That score would stand at
the second water break. Jayden moved up to midfield when the game
resumed, and made some nice plays, including a nice shot on goal
that was unfortunately saved by the Flames keeper. Just when it
looked like the Hawks would come away with the victory, the Flames
team scored on a breakaway opportunity as time expired to snatch it
away. The game would come to an end with a 1-1 score. |
