Today's park of choice was Epcot, thanks in large part to the
reservations we were able to make for the passholder preview for the
new Remy's Ratatouille Adventure ride. Our morning started
off a little slow, due in part to the late night that Drew and I had
due to his hockey game, and we kind of needed to work on picking up
around the condo (we had extended our stay by an extra night,
meaning we could pack up tomorrow morning to head home). Once we
loaded up the cars, we headed off to the park to meet up with Aunt
Erica and Samantha, who were joining us from home this morning.
Once inside the park, we made our way through the entrance maze
of construction walls to find ourselves at Test Track. We
were thrilled that this ride is finally back to its pre-COVID state,
where the design studio is back open. We paired up and designed cars
to compete with each other before enjoying the ride itself. The car
that Drew and I designed got the highest score, even despite the -2
we got for fuel efficiency!
We next left Future World East to head over to Future World West
and The Land. Our first stop here was Soarin' Around the World,
which everyone enjoyed (except Erica, who opted to sit this one
out). We really love this ride (though I would place it a step
behind the Avatar attraction at Animal Kingdom) but it is in need of
a redo due to all of the changes that are taking place at Epcot
itself! While we were in The Land, we decided to take a moment and
enjoy our lunch before our next stop. This is a good spot to eat, as
we are usually able to find a table, and as a bonus it is indoors!
After we finished eating, it was time to head over the the World
Showcase, with France being our destination, as it was finally time
for passholder preview for the new Remy's Ratatouille Adventure
ride. In order to gain access to the part of the France pavilion
where the ride is located, we were required to show our confirmation
email and scan in with our MagicBands. When we made our reservations
I wasn't able to secure a spot for Grandpa Gary, Grandma Terry, or
Samantha. To top it off, Grandma Terry couldn't find her
confirmation email! I asked what to do so they could come back to
their reservation date on Monday, but the fine folks at Disney
allowed them to join the rest of us today, saving them a trip back
tomorrow! We made our way to the back of the pavilion, which was
limited to just reserved passholders, allowing us to enjoy the area
without giant crowds. We took our turn on the ride itself, and
really enjoyed it. In fact, we asked about riding it again, and were
told it was OK! Most of us went back for a second go-round, taking
in the coolness that comes from being rat-sized in Gousteau's
restaurant.
After we finished exploring the new part of the France pavilion,
we continued our trek around the World Showcase, finally stopping in
Norway. We got a Disability Access Service (DAS) pass for Frozen
Ever After. Since it was hot out, we decided to head indoors to
the Florida Blue Lounge, which is located in the Akershus Royal
Banquet Hall, which has yet to reopen to its pre-COVID state. We
were treated to free beverages and snacks. It was a good way to get
out of the sunshine for a bit, and off of our feet as well. After we
finished our snacks, it was off to the cold of the Frozen Ever
After ride! I liked this ride before it was switched over to
Frozen, but I honestly can't recall what it was like before the
re-theme!
It was getting late and we were getting hungry, so we decided to
take in one last ride (at least for some of us) - we opted for
Mission: SPACE as our last ride of the night. Those who didn't
ride headed off to shop at the new Creations Shop.
With our trip to Mars complete, it was time to call it a day.
Aunt Erica headed home for the night, while the rest of us head off
to find a place to have dinner. We settled on Chili's, which may
have been a mistake. While the food was good, the wait was looooong.
Considering how empty the restaurant was inside, the wait had to be
due to the lack of waitstaff. Oh well... we had waited long enough
that we weren't changing our mind and having to wait somewhere else
anyway, so we stuck it out. The food hit the spot, so it was
ultimately worth it. After dinner we headed to the condo to call it
a night.
Until next time, Disney! |
