The Florida Hawks took the field for their final game of the
Brandon Cup, this time to take on the Florida Premier FC Red squad.
The first part of this game was a feeling out process, as each team
only managed a single shot on goal before the first water break. The
Hawks picked up the pace coming out of the break, however, managing
five of the next six shots, and converting on the second of those
attempts. A nice pass that went ahead to a streaking Hawks forward,
who managed to get the shot off that found its way through the
Premier keepers arms, giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead. The final shot of
the half also went to the Hawks, and they managed to convert on this
one as well. This one also came on a nice pass, this one into the
middle of the box that the Hawks player was able to redirect into
the back of the net for a 2-0 halftime lead. The second half was
played at a bit of a slower pace, as the defenses began to take
over. Despite holding the lead, it was the Hawks who kept attacking.
They managed the only goal of the second half, thanks to another
pass that was able to be redirected into the net for a 3-0 lead.
That would be it for the scoring, as the Hawks would win their
second game of the tournament.
Their final Brandon Cup record was 2 victories, 1 draw, and 1
loss. Not a bad showing girls! Go Hawks! |
