Jayden and her Tampa Dynamo hosted the Lee County Strikers at
home this afternoon, and were looking to get into the win column
after a couple of blowout losses and a near-miss in yesterdays make
up game (a 1-1 draw). Although it was the Strikers who managed the
first three shots on goal, it was the Dynamo who grabbed the early
lead. Thanks to Jayden's long pass ahead to a streaking teammate,
who got behind the defense to face the Strikers keeper one on one
and was able to beat her for a goal and a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately
the lead wasn't long lasting, as the Strikers knotted the score at
1-1 thanks to a shot that trickled through the Dynamo goalkeeper,
slowly finding it's way into the net to tie things up. The two teams
traded opportunities over the remainder of the half, but neither
side was able to score, meaning the 1-1 score held until the
halftime whistle.
Lee County dominated the action to start the second half once
again, continuing their early efforts from the opening half. On
their fifth shot of the half, coming off of a corner kick, came from
a close to the goal shot that settled in the back of the net, giving
the Strikers a 2-1 lead. The Dynamo girls outshot the Strikers over
the remainder of the game, but were unable to convert and tie the
score, handing them another tough loss. |
