This afternoon Jayden and her Tampa Dynamo FC teammates headed
to Wimauma to play the Lady Warriors in a scrimmage. The Dynamo side
would provide the goalkeepers for both teams, and they would play
three "periods" instead of the traditial halves in soccer. Things
got off to a slow start for the Dynamo girls, as an early Warriors
shot from distance cleared the outstretched arms of the Tampa
keeper, giving them an early 1-0 lead. Though the two sides would
each trade chances throughout the period, that would be the lone
goal scored in the opening period.
The field tilted towards the Dynamo teams end in the second
period, as they began to apply some steady pressure on the Warriors.
The Dynamo side scored their opening goal of the scrimmage on a
corner kick - one that sailed directly into the opposite top corner
of the goal, making it a 1-1 game. A short while later (and I hate
to admit this, but I missed the play) Dynamo would take their first
lead of the game on their second goal of the period, making it a 2-1
score. That would be the score heading into the final period.
Tampa continued to dominate possession of the ball in the third
period, and they would go on to widen their lead on a shot that
deflected off of a defensive Warrior player, leaving the keeper no
chance at a save. They would add to their lead once again, this time
on a long shot that went over the goalkeeper once more. That made it
a 4-1 game, and that would be the final as the final whistle blew.
Now to carry over this momentum into their next game! |
