Jayden and her Riverview Sharks teammates hosted the Strawberry
Crest Chargers at home in their twelfth game of the season tonight.
The game got off to a good start for Riverview, as after giving up
the games first shot on goal, they managed the next two, the second
of which opened the scoring in the contest. Their early goal came
just under fifteen minutes into the game, on a nice pass to the
middle of the field, which led to a shot that caromed in off of the
goalpost, making it a 1-0 game. Unfortunately, that lead was short
lived, as the Chargers would make it a 1-1 game a mere three minutes
later, after their pass found a wide open player on the left side of
our defense who was able to shoot the ball across the net for their
first goal. While the two sides would spend a lot of time trading
shots and scoring opportunities, neither side was able to convert,
and the half came to a close with the score still tied at a goal
apiece.
Strawberry Crest got the benefit of a very questionable tripping
call early in the second half, which led to a direct kick that
deflected in off of the crossbar, giving them a 2-0 lead on the
first shot of the half. Riverview would outshoot the Chargers over
the remainder of the half, but they were unable to net the goal that
they needed to knot up the score. The final whistle would blow with
the score still 2-1 in favor of the Chargers. Tough luck loss for
the Sharks. |
