Jayden and her Tampa Dynamo teammates hosted the North Lakeland
United this morning at the Summerfield Soccer Complex. Both teams
had some chances early, but it was the Lakeland side that was
getting the majority of them. Despite giving up four of the first
five shots on goal, it was the Dynamo squad that broke the ice on
the games sixth shot, thanks to a nice lead pass by Jayden that
freed up a teammate for a tough angle shot that sailed over the
outstretched arms of the Lakeland goalkeeper thirteen minutes into
the game. Eight minutes later, just before the whistle for the water
break, the North Lakeland United team knotted the score at one goal
apiece. The Dynamo keeper made the initial save, but gave up a
rebound and, with no Dynamo defender in the vicinity, the ball was
easily kicked into the back of the net. Tampa got the first chance
at retaking the lead coming out of the water break, but they weren't
able to do so. North Lakeland controlled the action the rest of the
way, but they too were unsuccessful in finding the back of the net.
Despite being outshot 9-3, Tampa and North Lakeland went into
halftime with the game tied 1-1.
The second half got off to a horrible start for the Dynamo girls,
as they allowed pressure right at the start. The Tampa keeper came
out to challenge the pressure, but the Dynamo allowed a pass across
the field to an open teammate who could easily convert the kick.
That made it a 2-1 score, with the North Lakeland girls in the lead.
Thankfully their lead was extremely short-lived, as the Dynamo girls
marched down the field after the kickoff, firing a short shot up and
over the the United keeper, re-tying the game, this time at two
goals each. Each team would get chances to reclaim the lead, but
neither was able to. When the final whistle blew, this contest ended
in a draw. |
