Jayden and her Tampa Dynamo teammates hit the road for the final
time this season, heading to Butler Park to face off against the
North Port Fusion FC. Today's game couldn't have gotten off to a
better start for the Tampa Dynamo, as just four minutes in they
drove down the left side of the field, carrying the ball in far
enough to get off a shot from just inside the box that sailed into
the short side of the net, making it a 1-0 game early. Unfortunately
the lead didn't last long, as the Fusion scored the tying goal just
six minutes later, on a play that appeared to be offside, allowing
the North Port attacker to walk in alone for the score. North Port
continued to attack, controlling the majority of the play as the
Tampa girls were definitely affected by only having a single extra
player to sub in along with the heat. The Fusion would claim the
lead 35 minutes in, on a midrange shot that found its way under a
diving Dynamo keeper. When the half came to a close, North Port
would have outshot Tampa by a 12-1 margin, but only held a 2-1 lead.
The offense for both sides slowed quite a bit in the second half,
though it was still North Port that controlled most of the play. The
Dynamo girls were just too tired to consistently mount an attack. A
little over twenty minutes in the Fusion would widen their lead, on
a play where they got past a Dynamo defender who appeared to give on
on trying to chase the attacking player down, resulting in a short
shot that went up and over the Tampa keeper. That would be it for
the scoring, with only two more shots even finding their way to the
net over the final twenty+ minutes of the game. The game would end
in a 3-1 loss for the Dynamo. |
