After missing this morning's contest between Jayden and her
Tampa Dynamo FC teammates and the Florida Premier FC Try Elite team,
I was able to attend this afternoon's game. This time it was another
Florida Premier FC team on the opposite sideline, in the form of the
Hernando Elite squad. It was a tough opening half for the Dynamo
squad, as they struggled to maintain possession of the ball (a
season-long issue, really). They did a decent job of limiting shots
against, however, as they kept the Premier team to just three shots
on goal before the first of two water breaks. Jayden outran the
Premier defense to get the lone shot of the between water break time
frame, and the lone shot of the half for the Dynamo, but
unfortunately the opposing keeper was able to make the save, keeping
them off the scoreboard. There was only a single shot on net after
the second water break, and it came off of the foot of a Premier
attacker, on a long shot that was likely aided by the wind, as it
sailed high and into the net for a 1-0 lead, with the goal coming
late in the half.
The second half followed a similar path, with the Premier team
being the main driver of play. They got off two quick shots early in
the frame, firing one off of the post, and the second when the
attacker moved behind the Dynamo defense, leaving themselves a 1v1
situations against the Dynamo keeper, before firing the shot to the
left and under a diving save attempt. That made it a 2-0 game,
though the Tampa girls didn't quit playing despite being outnumbered
heavily, as they only had the 11 players on the field and no
substitutes. The Dynamo girls got the next shot on goal, though were
once again unsuccessful. After the water break the two teams once
again traded chances, though neither were able to convert. Jay had
her second good look of the game, but the Premier keeper was able to
come up with the save that kept the score at 2-0. Two tough 2-0
losses on the day, and an 0-2 start to the tournament. Better luck
tomorrow, ladies. |
