| After leaving the 30th Woodward Dream Cruise, Tyler and I headed
back to Tara's Aunt Sue's house to pick up the boat, while Tara
headed to Deckers Boat Ramp Access
			- Michigan DNR, where Rose, Jayden, and Jay's girlfriend Hanna met
us. We loaded up the boat and headed back out towards Anchor Bay and
eventually onto Lake St. Clair. Our ultimate destination was
Harsens Island, a place where Tara spent a lot of time as a kid in
her grandparents cabin. Unfortunately, our ride to the island was a
lot farther than we realized, and it was nearly dark by the time we
made it. Even worse, we were critically low of fuel, to the point
that we probably weren't going to make it back to the dock. We ended
up heading to the Sans Souci Bar, a place that Tara and I had eaten
with Drew and Jay in the past. This is one spot where I truly
screwed up, as in major league, big time screw-up. Tara explained
our predicament to a nice older couple seated next to us, and after
learning that Tuesday would be the earliest to get fuel on the
island, they agreed to drive one of us on the ferry to the mainland
to get enough gas to get us back. While I should have stepped up and
made the trip, I allowed Tara to continue taking the lead and head
out with them. No amount of apologies could make this one better for
me, unfortunately. Thankfully the couple was nice, and Tara returned
safely, but needless to say I can count this as one of many "F"-ups
			in my lifetime.
We headed back to the boat launch by taking the channels instead
of the open water, and this is the way we should have gone as well,
as it would have saves us a ton of time and allowed for more
exploration around the island itself. Live and learn, and try to
atone for mistakes. That's all we can do as humans, even if it
doesn't always lead to the result we want.
Despite everything, we all had a great time on the water,
following Tyler's lead as he expands his passion for boating. Thank
you all for spending the time with me, and I love you all! |
