| Since I am alone now, I am trying to make an effort to put
myself out there more to meet people. Although I miss the
companionship that comes from being in a relationship, I know I am
not mentally ready for that and couldn't jump right into another one
(unlike some people, I'm just not at that point), but I do know that
it would be nice to hang out with adults other than my immediate
family. With that being said, I joined an app called Meetup, which
has all kinds of groups that you can join, and all kinds of various
activities based on a lot of different interests. My first adventure
was with a group called Suncoast Outdoors, and it involved a hike
through Oscar Sherer State Park off of US-41 in Nokomis. I was
joined by 14 other hikers, including the leader of today's hike. We
made an approximately 5 1/2 mile walk from Lake Osprey to Big Lake
and back. I met plenty of nice people, and hopefully I can connect
with them again on some future hikes!
Speaking of future hikes, I signed up for another hike - this
time at Myakka River State Park - on October 26, but I did something
to my knee that is making walking hard. I really wanted to attend
this one, as I would love to explore this particular park, but I
just didn't trust that I could make it for the 6 miles or so on
unknown terrain. Hopefully they have another there soon! |
