Monday, May 4th, 2026

Samantha and I made plans to spend May the Fourth together at Disney's Hollywood Studios, as we are both big Star Wars fans. Once the day finally arrived, we made the drive over to the park in the morning.

After we made it to the park, we did some shopping along Hollywood Boulevard to look for a very specific tank top that Sam had seen online. Unfortunately it was sold out in all of the shops we visited her, so we headed over to the Legends of Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard to look for it. Once again, no luck. Sam had pretty much given up on it at this point, as the tank top was sold out but other items from the collection were still available.

We decided to make our way back to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at this point. The entrance along Grand Avenue was definitely packed with fans, but it didn't take long to get inside. Plus, the people watching was great - there were plenty of amazing costumes wandering about today.

Neither Sam or I have ever been fond ot the milk offerings at the Milk Stand in Galaxy's Edge, but they had a new offering for May the Fourth, so I wanted to give it a shot, plus they sold the new Bantha Sipper that I wanted to add to my collection! We did a mobile order for the sipper and the new Pink Milk (rice milk with sweet and fruity characteristics), while Sam opted to try the Tenoo Swirl Crunchies Cereal (the Blue Milk with fruity characteristics topped with raspberry jelly and mini rainbow crunchy candies). It took forever for them to prepare our order, but we eventually got it, and, like usual, neither of us were too impressed. The drinks weren't gross, and we did finish them, but we certainly won't be rushing back for either of them either.

Oga's Cantina had several new items for May the Fourth that we would have liked to try, but there was no way we were getting a reservation there! We definitely needed to plan much further ahead for that opportunity! Instead we headed back to Ronto Roasters where we tried the Keshian Spiced Chips, which are lotus root chips tossed in cinnamon sugar. These were not bad, and when they were warm they vaguely reminded me of a fresh donut (though crispy) from a cider mill. These were pretty good and I could see having them again as a snack.

Our next destination took us out of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and to the Backlot Express in Echo Lake. Our goal here was to get the Your Chosen Path Cupcake - a cookies and cream cupcake with marshmallow buttercream, a white chocolate X-Wing and milk chocolate rocks on top, and on the inside, a secret lightsaber color! We each ordered one of these, and we also got two drinks - the Chosen One Cooler (a crisp, refreshing blend of granny smith apple with white cranberry and lime juices served with a green Luke Skywalker Lightsaber swizzle stick) and the Sith Lord Libation (a flavorful combination of blood orange with white cranberry and lime juices served with a red Darth Vader Lightsaber swizzle stick). The drinks were good, and I like that the Lightsabers are rechargable, unlike last years versions, but the real star here was the cupcakes. The cupcakes tasted great, and the surprise filling color was a cool touch. Sam got green, while I got blue, which I didn't even realize was a Lightsaber color (after do some research, apparently it is).

By this point it was finally time to pick up the popcorn buckets that I had ordered earlier in the day. We went to the pickup spot and got in line, but our order wasn't ready. There was a small line area to go through before they checked to see if your mobile order was ready, and we cycled through that three or four times before our order was finally good to go, and then we joined the longer line under the shade. We grabbed both the Jabba's Sail Barge Popcorn Bucket and the Salvaged Protocol Droid Popcorn Bucket and almost passed on the popcorn (it looked like cheese popcorn, which neither of us care for) but decided to take it as Grandpa Gary and Uncle Steve could eat it. Sam decided to try it as we were walking around, and lo and behold it was sriracha cheese popcorn, and sported quite a kick too! My one taste was enough to tell me that it would be too much for them, and though the taste wasn't terrible, we decided to toss it in the trash.

We wandered around Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge a little bit longer, taking some photos in front of the Millennium Falcon and browsing some of the shops and stands. We discussed what to do next, as the ride wait times were really long in this park, and decided to head over to Epcot for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, as the wait there wasn't too terrible. I'm not sure what prompted me, but I checked and we could reserve a spot at The Beak and Barrel in Magic Kingdom. This is a place Sam had tried to get reservations at before and was unsuccessful, so we decided to grab the available spot and head there instead.

After wrapping up at Disney's Hollywood Studios, we headed off to Disney's Magic Kingdom. We wandered around a little bit, but we didn't have a lot of extra time before our reservation at The Beak and Barrel. We checked in and waited our turn.

Once inside we were seated at a table with a couple and a family of four. We were seated with our back to the bar area, so we had to turn around to see anything inside. We were given 45 minutes to order food and drinks before our time was up. Samantha opted for the Hibiscus Rum Punch Royale (which is Don Q Reserva 7 Puerto Rican rum, hibiscus, and lime topped with Prosecco) while I opted for a more classic drink, Coca-Cola. The non-alcoholic specialty beverages didn't really excite me, as two of them were coconut flavored, and the third was Sprite, pineapple, mango, and guava, none of which I am a big fan of. I guess I should have tried one, and maybe I will next time. Sam wasn't overly impressed with my drink, but I will say that serving the drinks in the metal cups made them seem extra cold! No complaints there. For an appetizer, we agreed to the Cook’s Corn Griddle Cakes with Chipotle-braised Chicken (warm corn cakes stuffed with melted cheese, lime sour cream, chili peppers, and cotija). These were actually pretty good, though I managed to avoid directly eating the chili peppers. I could see doing them again.

The atmosphere inside of The Beak and Barrel was very cool, with lots of cool details throughout. I like the anchor hanging from the ceiling in the main hall with melted candles dripping from it. The lightening show was pretty cool as well, with the wait staff using whatever they could find to cover themselves from the "rain".

After our time was up at The Beak and Barrel, we headed across the park to Tomorrowland to get in line for Tron Lightcycle / Run, which is always one of our favorites. Although I was able to get my backpack in the locker, it wouldn't lock, so I was told to take my bag through the line. Before we were assigned our row they had me place my bag in the same area used for service dogs to pick up after the ride. Interesting option, but at least it was an option that I could utilize. Although the wait wasn't a short one, it wasn't excessive, and we had a lot of fun riding today.

Unfortunately I had to work tomorrow, and Samantha had a full day of school, so we decided to head home at this point. I had a great time with my oldest daughter and biggest fellow Star Wars fan, and I cannot wait to do it again! Thanks for the day Sam. Love you!
