Today was the final day of our trip. Time for packing our bags and eating breakfast before checking out of the hotel.

The Island House Hotel

Tyler laying in bed for one last rest before checking out of the hotel.

Danny (with his wonderful souvenir flute) and Tyler in the section of the dining room that we ate breakfast in today. This is also the room that the kids watched the movie "Bolt" in during our first night on the island.

Another view of the dining room.

We had a little bit of free time between breakfast and our ferry ride back to St. Ignace, so we wandered through town for a while. The kids also took advantage of their free time to play a little football and Frisbee on the open area across from the hotel.

Miscellaneous Island Sightings

During our walk to town Tyler climbed up on the walkway of what led to the old school, but is being turned into a museum.

Another picture of Tyler on the walkway with Fort Mackinac in the background.

The Arnold Transit Company building.

The American flag flying proudly.

This picture was taken at a restaurant in town called "Goodfella's". Here, Danny and Tyler are with a presumed mobster.

This replica Statue of Liberty was erected in the harbor by the Boy Scouts.

Danny and Tyler talking to Joseph.

The Round Island Lighthouse in back of the beacon.

The governors mansion.

A cross high above the trees.

Tyler playing football in the park.

One last look at the Island House before departing the island.

Next up for us was our boat ride back to the mainland and the bus ride across the Mackinac Bridge for the last time this trip.

Boat & Bus

One last attempt to get a picture of a sailboat for Tara. Here is a boat in front of the Mackinac Bridge, taken from the bottom level of the boat. The little spots are water drops being tossed in the air by our boat.

Tyler looking out the window as we cross the bridge.

The final activity for our trip (aside from lunch at Burger King) was a stop at Historic Mill Creek. Here we saw some lumbering demonstrations and a nature talk about animals native to the Mackinac area in specific, but also some general animals from Michigan.

Historic Mill Creek

We were late getting to the first lumbering demonstration due to a long restroom line. Tyler chose not to look for a seat on the benches (they were pretty full) and opted to sit on the ground instead.

The "lumberjack" demonstrating how the bark was removed from a log to make planks.

Another picture of the log being hacked away at.

Tyler's classmate Payton got to help saw a log into a plank during the demonstration.

The roof of the water powered sawmill had all kinds of strange growth on it.

One of the signs we passed on the trail to our nature talk.
