On Mother's Day, May 9th, Drew had his seventh and final
skating lesson from this session. During the past seven classes Drew has gone
from being a complete novice to passing the first two levels of the "Snowplow
Sam" learn to skate classes. He mastered sit and standing up with his skates,
marching in place, marching forward, marching and gliding, and dipping to
successfully complete Snowplow 1. Passing Snowplow 2 meant that he is able to
march and follow it up with a long glide, dip while moving, wiggle 6 times in a
row backward, do 2-3 forward two foot "swizzles" (I'm guessing that this is what
Drew calls a squiggle), a rocking horse (one forward and one backward
"swizzle"), and a two foot hop in place.
Drew will move on to his second session of lessons next
week (starting May 16th) and into the Snowplow 3 level. We are excited to see
what kind of progress he makes now that he has a little bit of ice time under
his belt.
