After years of delay and waiting, we finally broke down
and purchased a new-to-us 2004 GMC Sierra Crew Cab pickup truck. It had pretty
much everything that we were looking for, primarily 6 seats so that we can all
fit in it when we could go camping. It also had relatively low mileage for it's
age, and it was a diesel too. The step bars, tonneau cover, and spray-on bed
liner were already installed as well. We have already gone out and had a
fifth-wheel hitch, trailer brake controller, and an in-bed wiring plug
installed.
We have already used the truck a ton, hauling a roto-tiller,
a generator, a refrigerator, and a load of mulch in it. Now we are just waiting
for the weather to warm up so we can haul the camper out for a relaxing weekend
by the fire!
