Tyler played in his first baseball game since his burn
injury on Thursday, June 10th. I know this was a little earlier than planned,
but the team was short players and we had bought him a sleeve for his arm (for
two reasons - to keep dirt off of his arm and to keep the sun off of the new
skin to prevent sunburns) so we decided that it was OK for him to give it a
shot. A brother of one of the players on the team (who's Dad is also the
assistant coach) dressed for the game too, so Tyler only ended up playing two
innings in the field, which was OK because he was a little rusty. He had two
at-bats and struck out both times, but the second one was on a terrible third
strike call on a ball that was down near his ankles. Tyler also attempted to
bunt during this same at bat, and he had a good stab at it, but the ball rolled
just foul down the first base line. I think that I should try to work on this
with Tyler so that he can use it more often in a game. I also upped his per-hit
allowance to $5 from the $1 that we established earlier in the season, mainly
because he hasn't hit like I hoped he would have by this point in the season.
Tyler's Baseball - Game 11 vs. Mets

Tyler started the game playing second base today, which was a
little surprising considering the amount of time he has missed
recently.

|
Tyler botched this grounder, but he wasn't the only player who
let a ball get by him while playing in the infield today.
|
|
Tyler had a good bunt attempt during his second at-bat, but it
rolled foul.

|
Unfortunately Tyler struck out for the second time in his final
at-bat.
