This game turned out to be another loss for the Cardinal's
that shouldn't have been. Throwing errors and a lack of effort on some of the
plays really doomed the team to defeat. The boys made contact with the ball
today but the majority of the time it was right to one of the defenders, and
most of the balls weren't hit very hard. Progress is being made, but sometimes
it is hard to see. Tyler spent the entire game playing second base, which is a
new position for him (at least I don't recall him ever playing there before). He
didn't have to field any balls, but he did force a runner out on a throw from
left field. He was thrilled that he made the catch, and was grinning from ear to
ear. For the most part his at bats were improved today, but he still has a
tendency to jump out of the box on inside strikes and watch pitches sail down
the heart of the plate. He did hit the ball today, but like everyone else it was
right at the first basemen, who fielded the ball and stepped on the base to get
Tyler out. His next at-bat was a strikeout, but not for a lack of effort. At
least he went down swinging this time.
