Home Up

To help complete the activity list that Tyler completed while he visited the island with his fourth grade class for Samantha, I scheduled a sunset cruise for the family. We managed to have a near perfect evening on the boat, as the water cooperated, the sun cooperated, other boats cooperated. Things were about as close to perfect as you could want. Although I would love to take this cruise again in the future, I doubt it could ever live up to the memories of this cruise!

These pictures are from the ride over to Mackinac Island, where we picked up some extra passengers...

Star Line Sunset Cruise

A look across the lake to Mackinac Island. Nobody was quite sure what the large building in the center of the picture was, although we guessed a condo of some sort.

The spray emitted by our boat, the Star Line Radisson, was quite impressive...

...enough to block out the sun when the boat turned just right.

A look at the Mackinac Bridge over St. Ignace.

Rodney taking a self shot of himself and Samantha.

A view of the Mackinac Bridge from the boat.

Tyler, Drew, Jayden, and Samantha climbing up to the top level of the boat.

A close-up of Jay, Sam, and Tyler at the front of the boat. Drew is up there too, but his head is barely visible.

Drew and Tyler talking on the top level of the boat.

Sam posing for a picture.

A look at the bridge while Tara takes in the scenery.

One of the many cool old houses on Mackinac Island, perched high up on the bluff.

Another nice old house. Look closely and you can see people on the front porch!

The Grand Hotel, from the side.

A sailboat passing behind the old Mackinac Island lighthouse.

The sailboat moving past the lighthouse.

Devil's Kitchen, where we had taken several family photographs on July 15th.

More cool old houses perched high on the bluffs of Mackinac Island.

A better look at the famed front porch of the Grand Hotel.

We passed by this house on our bike ride on July 15th, and on Tyler's class trip as well, but we had no idea it was so large from the street view.
