The girls dominated the play early in the game, but
couldn't manage to get a ball past the goalie the entire first half. On the few
occasions that the opposition was able to get the ball into their offensive
zone, they got off some good scoring chances. They scored the only goal of the
half, on a save that probably should have been made. The second half really
didn't go our way at all. The girls in purple did manage to score a goal to tie
it up, but the rest of the game was all down hill. The defense hung the goalie
out to dry, allowing a player to get well behind them, and the result was
another goal for the wrong team. They added another goal later on, on a kick
that our goalie had both hands on before letting it roll through her legs. From
then on out it was as if our girls were a little deflated (and tired). Samantha
played pretty well in the first half, getting a couple of kicks on goal (she
didn't score, but probably would have on one kick had she used her left foot
instead of her right!). I thought that she deserved more playing time, as she
spent more time on the sideline than most of the other girls, but it was just
the first game, so hopefully that will change.
