Game 6

Home Up

The final game of Drew's long day took place against the Kings. Drew was playing a pretty good game once again, and the team was doing OK overall. The score was 13-2 with about six minutes left when Drew fell hard to the ice, landing on his knee. I sat in the stands saying he was fine, but he wasn't wanting to get up. The coaches and his godfather, Jeff, helped him off the ice and into the locker room. I headed that way to check on him, and while he had a pretty big red spot on his knee he was indeed fine. He said that a player from the other team knocked him down, but I guess I missed the actual act and just saw him down on the ice. Since the game was nearly over we decided there was no since in putting his shin guard, sock, and skate back on and instead decided to call it a day. We got him undressed and out of the locker room before the mad rush of players and parents came in, but he stuck around long enough to get the free chocolate milk that the kids got after each two game session!

Overall Drew had a lot of fun today, despite the rough scores. As I said, it shows us how far we have to go as a team, so it is a good lesson for all involved.
