First Day of School

Tyler is the lone person in our household right now that has to be up before sunrise, as he is the first one to head outside to catch the bus to the middle school, where he is starting the eighth grade. One more year until high school! Ugh! I didn't want to embarrass him in front of his friends (who may be passing by outside), so I took his picture inside this year.

Samantha is entering the sixth grade this fall, and while she is disappointed that she won't be in the middle school quite yet, she is looking forward to spending one final year in classes with her friends. Sam has a teacher that none of the other kids have had yet, and she is pretty excited about that.

Drew is going into second grade, and while he doesn't seem overly enthusiastic about being back in school he is taking it all in stride. Drew's teacher is new to the family as well, so he is sure to have a year of new experiences!

Jayden is entering kindergarten, although I am not sure how I feel about that. My baby shouldn't be in school yet! She it completely excited about it, however, and is raring to go. She too has a teacher that none of the other kids have had before.

All in all it is shaping up to be a good year. Hopefully Tara will be able to keep up on them all until I can get off of second shift to give her a hand. Until then, good luck to her!

Jayden's official first day of school was a meet and greet session that lasted a couple of hours. The kids all got to go in to the classroom for a while, where the teacher read them a book. They then did a coloring project based on the book. After that it was off to the lunchroom to see what needed to be done to order a hot lunch, and if they packed a lunch they had the opportunity to eat in the cafeteria for the first time. Once this was all over, I took Jayden home for the day. She would have to wait until Tuesday for her first full day of school, but so far, so good!
