Freedom Festival Parade

Home Up

Tara & I took Tyler, Samantha, Drew, and Jayden to Fenton for the annual Freedom Festival parade on July 4th. We were the first to arrive, so we found a parking spot and a location along the sidewalk to watch the parade. We were later joined by Melissa and her kids, Hannah, Taren, and Tevin. Colleen also came with her kids, Noah and Dani. The last family to join us was Jeff & Carrie, along with their kids Joe and Olivia. We did our best to stay cool on this blistering day while enjoying the parade.

Once the parade was over, we headed our separate ways. Tara & I took the kids for a walk around the Community Center to the church across the street, which was nicely providing free sno-cones which absolutely hit the spot. We then headed over to the bank, which was giving away free root beer floats. The kids were in heaven, but it was also time for us to escape the heat and head home for a while...

Here is the group gathered together while waiting for the parade to begin.

Jayden walking away from the camera.

An ice-cream salesman. Shaved/bald in the front, but he still knows how to party in the back!

Another look at our group watching the parade from the sidewalk, with Drew front and center.

This poor guy had to walk the entire parade route with his bagpipes in the sweltering heat.

A duck!

The kids weren't too fond of this car, but the adults wouldn't mind it!

It's Hungry Howie!

Horses pulling a wagon.

Bet that bike is an "Easy Rider"!!!

Nice hat!

Drew trying to snag some candy before the  shopping cart drill crew steps on it.

Nice glasses!

This truck crab-walked down the parade route.

Look, it's Homer Depot!

The kids sitting on the curb enjoying the parade and waiting for candy to come their way.

A nice Camaro convertible.

The Red Devil, home of some great pizza!

The Jet's Pizza guy wanted us to know that, "Yes, it is HOT in here!"

Not sure if that is a tattoo on his head or opposite-of-face-paint on the back of his head.

One of America's heroes sweating his way down the parade route in full gear.

A 9/11 tribute on the back of a fire truck.
