Game 1

Home Up

Samantha and her teammates played in their first basketball game of the season at 9:00am on January 7th. As I sat in the stands watching the team during their warm-ups I was concerned that the season was going to be a struggle, but just moments into the game the team was off and running, getting easy basket after easy basket. By halftime they had a 28-6 lead. It appeared as if their coaches throttled them back a bit in the second half, as the scoring was way down. They didn't need to score another basket, though, as they wound up winning by a 34-21 score. Sam played well considering that she has only been able to make it to 3 of the teams 6 practices (she has soccer practice at the same time as one of her team's practice times). She played well on defense, did some ball handling, and even managed to get off a few shots - which unfortunately didn't work their way through the basket. All in all I would consider this a promising start to the season, and hopefully things will get better as they have more time to work together as a team!

Game 1 - vs. Smith's Disposal

Sammie inbounding the ball.

Sam dribbled the ball up the court successfully after securing a rebound.

Sam played tough, aggressive defense during her time on the court this morning.

Sam played quite a bit of point guard in the first half.

Here is another shot of Sam dribbling the ball into the frontcourt.

The sun was shining brightly into the gym as Sam inbounds the ball to her teammate.

Sam had some good shots during the action today, but was unable to get any of them to fall.

The final score, a 34-21 victory in their first game of the season. Not a bad start!

Sam led the team in their post-game handshakes today.
