Today's game got off to a rough start for the Lapeer Storm
team, as they gave up goal after goal after goal to open the action. For
whatever reason, the team came out very flat footed today, and it left them in a
hole early. By the time they had settled down some, the Royal Oak Eagles had
scored 5 first period goals on their way to a 5-0 lead. Despite giving up 3
additional goals in the second period, the Storm team had played much better,
even getting some scoring chances of their own. The third period was another
struggle defensively, as they gave up 5 more goals, but the team finally managed
to get on the board offensively, scoring 2 goals of their own. Drew played
decently today - I wouldn't say he was great, but he did make a few good plays.
He also could have had better positioning from time to time, but that remains an
issue that is improving for the entire team. Ultimately the 13-2 score wasn't
entirely indicative of the action on the ice, as things got a bit chippy from
time to time. Thankfully our kids stood tall and battled hard, despite the score
and the defeat.
