Game 7

Home Up

November 23rd, 2013

Today's game got off to a good start, as the Storm team was able to control the puck in their offensive zone on multiple occasions. Unfortunately, the Falcons team was able to capitalize on mistakes while the Storm team was not. Mental and defensive breakdowns led to some breakaway situations for the Falcons, and they managed to make the most of these opportunities to take the early lead. They eventually managed 4 goals in the first period, while the Storm could never regain their early momentum in the period. The second period was better, as the Storm were able to limit the Falcons to just 2 goals while actually managed to get a couple in the back of the net themselves, including a powerful one timer by Drew! His first travel hockey goal was unassisted when the puck trickled out to him in front of the net and he fired a slapshot up and over the goalie into the back of the net. The third period was a bit of a regression, as the Storm managed to allow 3 unanswered goals to make the final score 9-2.

Drew is really showing signs of understanding what is happening on the ice over the last few games. He has started to use his size to his advantage, pushing kids off the puck by leaning on them. He is also figuring out that by skating hard and being in the right spot that good things will happen to him, as exemplified by his goal today. Great job Drew!
