Samantha came out with her "A-Game" today, scoring the
first basket of the season, giving her team a 2-0 lead that held up for nearly
the entire first quarter. Unfortunately, neither her or her teammates were able
to find the bottom of the net again throughout the first half, and the Lady
Bronchos trailed at halftime 12-2. Things got ugly in the third quarter, as the
Fenton girls pulled away to a 28-2 lead. The Bronchos didn't give up, however,
and made a mini-run in the fourth quarter. Sam wound up adding 4 more points to
her daily total, and a couple other girls managed to score as well. They also
managed to hold Fenton to 2 points in the fourth, making the final score a
somewhat more respectable 30-10.
Although the girls lost, I have to give them a ton of
credit. While they only have 8 girls on their team, the Fenton team brought 21
players with them. That meant that they were able to roll in fresh teams of 5
every couple of minutes, which was extremely beneficial today. With outside
temperatures soaring to 90+ degrees, the inside temperature of the gym was
almost the same. The Holly girls were completely wore out by the time this game
was over. Hopefully by the time they place their next game at home it will be a
bit cooler inside. Go Bronchos!
