Game #2 for the La Forza girls started much like the first
game did - the weather was cold, only this time there was much more wind
involved. Not only were the girls freezing, but so were all of the spectators! I
didn't manage to take many pictures, mainly because I wasn't truly dressed
appropriately, and therefore had a hard time holding the camera still. The girls
entered halftime with a 1-0 lead behind Samantha's strong play in net and the
team's strong play on the ball. The second half seemed to be a whole different
game, however, as the girls seemed to be very passive in waiting for the ball to
come to them instead of going and taking it. By the time it was over, the final
score was 2-1, but it was not in our girls favor. They
moved to 1-1 in the tournament, good for second place in their flight (there
were 6 teams, each divided into two flights - the first and second place team
from each flight played in the playoffs while the third place teams played in a
consolation game). Since they had earned second place, they also earned a
semifinal game against the first place team from the other flight. That game
would take place tomorrow at 1:15pm.

Samantha bundled up for her time in goal, keeping her hat,
pants, sweatshirt, and gloves on (under her goalie gloves!).

...and kicking it away.

Sam and her teammates lined up to defend a shot.

|
Sammie had to reach out to get her fingertips on this shot
attempt...
|
|
...and thankfully her dive was enough to deflect the ball just
outside of the goal post!
