97.1 The Ticket Sportsfest

    While Tara was standing in line waiting for the face paint, she snapped a few pictures of the girls. She also grabbed her camera a couple other times as well. Enjoy her photos!

    After leaving Sportsfest, Tyler suggested that, since we were already this far south, we should drive over to American Jewelry and Loan. This is where they film the TruTV show "Hardcore Pawn". We had already seen one of the stars from the show, Seth, at Sportsfest as we were entering, so perhaps this is what triggered the request. Tara decided that it wasn't too far away and that we had time to go, so off we went. We arrived and found the parking lot jam-packed with cars. As we entered the building there was a sign that Sam spotted pointing out that it there was filming taking place and that we may end up on TV. The kids were thrilled at this prospect! It was a pretty surreal sight, seeing all of the camera people and boom mikes and whatnot. Tara and Tyler saw another star from the show, the pawn shops owner Les was in the office area. We also saw the other star, Ashley, but did not get a chance to talk to either of those two. Seth was there as well, and he came out and posed for pictures with the kids and talked to Tara for a moment about the Sportsfest event. They cleared out a section to record Seth talking to a customer (who had a 5' tall horror doll - look for it on TV! We may even walk by in the background, as we left when they were filming!).

Our final stop on our Sportsfest activity tour was dinner. We couldn't really decide where to go, so we decided to try some place that none of us had been to before - Hunter House Hamburgers on Woodward. The place really is a step back in time to a greasy little diner. The food was decent, but I definitely needed to order more patties on my burger! Well, that is all for this trip.
