November 29th, 2014
I saw a flyer at work promoting a free entrance night to
the Michigan Warriors hockey team and I thought that it would be a good
opportunity for Tara & I to take the kids. There was a limit of 4 tickets per
person, so Tara & I went and got 8 seats. We thought we could either allow a
couple of the kids friends to tag along, or we would have two seats for coats.
It was a good thing that we got the extras, as one of Drew's teammates (Noah)
wound up going with us and spending the night. Our seats weren't as good as the
last time that we went, but the arena is small enough that there really aren't
any terrible seats. Jayden though it was great that we were in row "J", so they
had that going for them!
The opponent for tonight's game was the Soo Eagles, from
Sault Ste. Marie. Drew's hockey team played a tournament game on their home ice
earlier this year, so it was cool for him to see them play against his hometown
team. While there wasn't much scoring early in this game, there were plenty of
skirmishes and fights along the way. We thought that this game was going to go
into a shootout, but the Warriors managed to score the lone goal of the contest
late in the third period, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
We had a couple of interesting things happen during the
course of the evening as well. First, Samantha was selected for one of the
intermission contests, and in the third period she was tasked with finishing the
lyrics to the song over the PA system. She was pretty nervous that it was going
to be a song that she didn't know, but it would up being "Let It Go" from
Frozen, and she nailed the missing lyrics for a $25 gift card to Applebee's.
Second, Drew and Noah headed over to the players exit before the team the ice,
and Drew wound up being handed one of the Warriors sticks!
All in all, it was a great night!

Butt-crack, baby butt-crack!

Drew and Noah moved back closer towards the end of the game, but
they were still enjoying their horns!
