Once again Samantha and two of her teammates played with
the short-handed U13 team this afternoon at the Genesee Fieldhouse. The U13 girls have struggled during their indoor season,
having lost their previous 5 games (including yesterday with the U14 girls
playing with them). This game was scoreless through the first half of game
action, giving the girls hope that they would be able to end the winless streak.
Sam ended up starting the second half in goal, but her rustiness showed as she
allowed what I thought was an easy goal (and Sam agreed with me after the game).
Thankfully one of her new U13 teammates scored to even things up to bail her
out. As time wound down the coach pulled Sam from goal, putting her at forward
in an attempt to score in the frantic final minutes. It wasn't meant to be,
however, as time wound down, ending the game in a 1-1 tie. The good news for the
U13 team was that they finally managed to avoid a loss, giving them a 0-1-5
record on the season.

Samantha made some really nice plays in the field, but
unfortunately I was more focused on the game than I was on taking
pictures!
