Game 3

Coming in to today's game the girls knew that they needed to outscore the opposition by three goals in order to advance into the playoffs (goal differential was the first tie-breaker, and they would be tied with another team with a victory in this game). There was a good chance at a victory today, but the offense hasn't always been easy with this team. Most of this game took place with a 0-0 score, but Venice broke through first after halftime to claim a 1-0 lead. They had plenty of good looks after that, but couldn't find the back of the net when they had the chances. Some stellar goalkeeping and defensive play kept the Space City team off the board, and the Falcons secured a 1-0 victory. Unfortunately this ended their tournament with a 2-1 record.

Samantha played pretty well overall in these three games, and even piqued the interest of a couple of college coaches. Once they learned how young she really was (playing in a much older age group) they were forced to back off, but it is a good sign that with some hard work and a bit of luck that she has a bright future ahead of her if she really wants it! Congratulations Sam!
