The Venice Indians were on the road today and played
against the Braden River Pirates. This game was an aggressive game since Braden
River just recently lost to North Port and they knew Venice was in the lead. Our
girls quickly learned they needed to step up their game and show the Pirates why
Venice was in first place. Throughout the first half, it seemed pretty evenly
played but Venice appeared to dominate the ball. Venice had a few shots on goal
but they just couldn't manage to get one in the net. Moving in to the second
half, our team changed up their formation and quickly scored a goal to take the
lead 1-0. Braden River fought hard and saved many of our attempted shots.
Although late in the second half, on a corner kick, Samantha helped her team out
by knocking in a soft goal to move the 2-0. This was her first goal as a Varsity
player and one she was shocked even occurred. Sa said that she wasn't prepared
for the goal, but nonetheless she'll take it. Braden River attempted to come
back, but they couldn't get a shot past the Venice goalie.
