Not a lot went as planned tonight in regards to how the
ideal situation would have played out. Drew's hockey team was playing in their
fourth playoff game of the season tonight, pretty much wrapping up their season.
After two strong games in a row, they would be facing a tough challenge tonight.
Although the Orchard Lake team that they were facing had only won a couple of
games all season long, they were also in a higher division facing off against
tougher competition throughout the season. Early on it looked like the Storm
team would be able to hang with them, as they even managed to jump out to an
early 1-0 lead. It was all Orchard Lake after that though, as they went on to
score two goals in the first to head into the second with a 2-1 lead. Their
scoring binge continued in the second, and once the game reached 5-1 I had a
decision to make - either Samantha would be late to her game while I sit and
watch Drew's team struggle, or I run her to her soccer game so she arrives on
time and I miss some of Drew's game. None of this would have mattered had Drew's
game started on time, but it got underway later than planned. I opted to drop
Sam off at her game and return to pick up Drew, hoping to catch the end of the
game. Unfortunately it was over by the time I returned, but it didn't sound as
though I missed much. The final score was an 8-2 Storm defeat, with plenty of
poor refereeing thrown into the mix. Not the way anyone wanted to end the
season, but the team has one final tournament remaining to finally secure their
first win of the season...
