This morning marked the opening day of the Holly Minor
League Baseball Tournament. This was kind of an on-again off-again tournament
that finally got underway today as the Holly Dodgers faced off against one of
two teams from Fenton that offered to play. Unfortunately for the Dodgers, this
game didn't provide much competition. They went out and scored five runs in each
of the first two innings while only allowing one run through the first three. As
the home team the Dodgers got to bat last, and they scored one additional run
before the skies opened up and poured on the field severely enough to cause the
game and the tournament to be cancelled for the day. At that point the game was
called with the Dodgers up 11-1, and despite only playing three innings (four
are required in order for the game to be considered official). Drew played first
base for two innings before moving to third base for the final three outs. He
batted three times as well, popping out, getting hit by a pitch on the ankle
before coming around to score a run, and striking out in his last at-bat.
