    Samantha and her Michigan Impact teammates took to the pitch shorthanded today to take on the Midland Fusion team. It seemed as though half of the team (and the majority of the defensive regulars) missed today's game to attend to their homecoming festivities, and that hurt more and more the longer the game went on. The Midland team scored first, but the Impact girls didn't give up and had some nice chances to even things up before halftime. Unfortunately they weren't able to convert and began the second half down by one. The coach must have lit a fire under them to start the second half, as they raced down the field with the opening kickoff to even things up at a goal apiece less than a minute into the half. That was where the good news ended for the Impact team, however, as they couldn't maintain the early momentum and the Fusion team retook the lead moments later. Another goal gave them a 2 score lead, and that was enough to hold up. The Impact girls kept fighting, but once again they missed the net at crucial times. The 3-1 score resulted in the first loss of the season for the Impact team, and we're hopeful that better games are in front of them.
